Food and Nutrition Security

Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) programme that aims to integrate nutrition, agriculture and WASH interventions for improved food and nutrition security using participatory planning and behavior change communication method in twelve villages of Kadabaruan & Chandigaon panchayat of Bhadrak block. We are working on the project with the support of Centre For World Solidarity (CWS), Secunderabad since June, 2021. We are conducting several activities for our beneficiaries (lactating mother, pregnant women, adolescent girls, children 0 to 59 months) in all 12 villages under this project. We have enrolled 12 of health volunteers (one in each village), conducted three trainings to village/ health volunteers for their capacity building. We have also conducted baseline survey to find out status of children and found 14 children are in red zone and 30 children in yellow zone. We have organised different activities in our all operational villages like; Infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices and Diet Diversity, 15 days Poshan Camp, Diet Diversity Score Survey, Demonstration of home based Nutrimix and recipe, Recipe demonstration on Millets/UCF etc. and lost foods, Workshops on promotion of Sanitations / Menstrual Hygiene, Promotion of sustainable agriculture practices – Trainings and Promotion of Hand Wash provisions /Tippy Tap method etc. We have constructed four wash basins in four Anganwadi Centres. We have provided input support for diverse crop / methods/tools to 24 identified farmers. We have also provided support of seeds packet, 16 different siblings to the 250 beneficiaries for developing nutrigarden. After our intervention the number of red zone and yellow zone children reduced to 9 & 21 simultaneously.
